Covid-19 in the world: US documents sound the alarm about the Delta variant
This variant is as contagious as chickenpox, and infected people appear to have a significant viral load in their nose and throat, whether they are vaccinated or not, according to an analysis conducted in Massachusetts.

The Covid-19 pandemic has killed more than 4.2 million people worldwide since the end of 2019, according to an assessment established by Agence France-Presse (AFP), Friday 30 July, based on official figures provided by the authorities of each country. But the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that these could be two to three times higher if the excess mortality directly and indirectly related to the disease were taken into account.
